The story of PHP language
Nowadays, a website is one of the most important applications in the globalization because it is a good media to communicate and guide between organizations and people. Moreover, many websites are developed in many ways such as graphic interface, latest features, and new technology. On the other hand, one of the most popular functions on the website in this period is an e-commerce via internet. We can observe that many shops should sell their goods on the website such as E-Bay, Reader Dijet, and Herbal life. However, we have many kinds of appropriate language to do the modern websites on internet such as ASP, JSP, VB.net, and HTML. Besides, we have another language that is suitable for doing the web application. This language is PHP. In this essay, we will know the meaning, the instruction, and the advantages of PHP better than the past.
PHP is an abbreviation from “Personal Home Page Tool.” It is a script language on server-side. Then every command is collected in script files the same as JavaScript and Perl. This language was built in 1994 by Mr.Rasmus Lerdorf. He developed this language from C language then the feature of PHP is like C language, too. The characteristic of PHP is different from other script’s language because PHP is designed for doing the web application on HTML language and attaching or improving the content on the website via the database server automatically. Therefore, it’s called HTML-embedded scripting language. Furthermore, this language has an important tool to make the feature in Dynamic HTML efficiently.
By the way, PHP has been developed from the Open Source group. Therefore, it should grow faster and support other web servers especially the Apache Web Server on Linux and FreeBSD. Moreover, PHP is supported to the web server on Windows operating systems such as Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me and etc. Despite the fact that PHP is supported in many Operating systems, it is different on the part of the web server. So, we should check if the web server can use the PHP script or not because each web server has different feature to compile and run the script languages. For example, PHP is appropriate with the Apache Web Server and the Personal Web Server (PWP) on Window operating systems. For the Apache Web Server, we can use PHP both two versions, CGI and Apache Module. These versions are not quite different but Apache Module is better than CGI because it can run automatically with PHP and be used easily with the internal feature.
There are many advantages of PHP language but I will describe only three main topics. Firstly, it is a freeware application because users can download from the related website everywhere and don’t have to pay for downloading this application. Secondly, it is easy to use on the web server because PHP is combined with HTML language and the structure is not complicated. So, it is easier to learn and understand how to process and compile the website by using this language. Lastly, it is more efficient and modern when it is used on the web server particularly using on Apache server. Moreover, it can be used with XML language, image processing, database server, and array structure.
In conclusion, I think this language is appropriate and interesting to make the web application because the structure is not complex and it is easy to understand the working process on the script language. Besides, we can download PHP language from related websites. In the future, this language will be developed in the Object-Oriented program such as the graphic interface. I hope that PHP will be useful for web masters and popular in the web application language.
